The Alley Theatre, one of America’s leading not-for-profit theatres, is a nationally recognized performing arts company led by Interim Artistic Director James Black and Managing Director Dean R. Gladden. Home to a Resident Company of actors, the Alley creates a wide-ranging repertoire and innovative productions of classics, neglected modern plays, and premieres. A recipient of the Special Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre, the Alley has brought productions to Broadway, 40 American cities including New York’s Lincoln Center and internationally to Berlin, Paris, and St. Petersburg throughout its 70-year history.
To continue its legacy, on January 20th at 2:30 PM, the Alley Theatre will present “Sofia” by Claire Keichel as part of the Alley All-New Festival.
During “Sophia,” before the Nicene Creed in 325 AD, women were leaders for The Way. This is a story about one of them who has a final chance to have her story heard, until it is lost to the annals of History. Set in both 2019 and also 219, Sophia tells a new story about an ancient book. “Let she who has the ears to hear, listen!”
All Alley All New workshop performances and readings are free and open to the public.
